Yoga to Start The Day

While I can honestly say I am out of regular practice, I do like to start my day with a smidgeon of yoga.  There’s a reason the FitMommas logo shows a woman in Tree Pose – I honestly don’t think there is a better, overall exercise for strong women.  Given the many forms of yoga, you can find classes and tapes to help you relax, get strong, lose weight – whatever your goal.  If you’ve never given it a try, and especially if you’ve always thought yoga was kinda lame, I strongly urge you to give it a try.

My favorite way to start the day – assuming that my little 13 month old Piglet allows it – is to do a Sun Salutation.  It is a series of 12 poses done in a nice, easy flow. Different types of yoga have some variations, but the basic Sun Salutation can be found here at the Yoga Site. Do 1-3 full sets, and see how it makes you feel.  Calmer. More relaxed.  And overtime, stronger.  Leaner.  Just think, if we all did a few Sun Salutations to start our day, how much more joyous our communities would be!

Alas, I admit that some days start with nothing more than a cat stretch and child’s pose, but nonetheless, it’s always good to have goals, right?  And now you can totally justify a new purchase of super-cute yoga pants to your husband.
