Relax in the face of Impatience

January 29, 2010

I am so guilty of this.  I am always in a hurry.  Rush, rush, rush.  I was born late and seem to have brought that into my daily adult life.  So nothing drives me nuts more than waiting on others.  You know, that person in front of you in line who moves like a tortoise, who has all kinds of questions for the cashier, you asks for price checks, and then needs to split up the order to pay with two different accounts.  Com’mon!

So I challenge the Rushed Impatients of the world, such as myself, to learn to freakin’ chill.  Someone up there is telling you to slow the ‘ef down, so do it!  Rather than fuming and visualizing all the ways you’d like to open up a can of whoop-ass on that poor soul, recognize this as an opportunity to Relax!  Concentrate on some deep breaths. Read a tabloid and revel in how much more awesome your life is without cameras following you around.  Strike up a conversation with the person behind you, and try not to make it about how you want to kill the person in front of you.

Either way, like Ferris Bueller says, “Life moves pretty fast. You don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”
